Race Preparation

Are you interested in entering an enduro, cross country or downhill race but not sure how to prepare? MTBetter Ride and Guide can help! I have taken part in cross country, Super D, enduro and downhill races across the country since 2010  including the Eastern States Cup enduro and downhill series since 2016.

In any MTB discipline, a well prepared racer is a successful racer, whether you are aiming for the podium or just to survive and enjoy the race weekend. Your first race can, however, be a daunting prospect and you may be unsure exactly what to expect or how to prepare yourself and your bike.

Race preparation includes:

  • Physical training - have the fitness needed to tackle the course
  • Mental conditioning - the right mental outlook will allow you to compete to the best of your physical ability
  • Pre-riding - if you know the course in advance, I can help you with line choices and technique on technical sections
  • Bike set-up specifically for the race conditions that can be expected
  • Setting goals - success is more than just aiming for the podium
  • Practice day techniques - how to pre-ride and prepare the day before the race
  • Race day techniques - how to perform at your best when it counts

Racing can be an expensive business, so make sure you have the best experience possible with good preparation and training!
